Sedation Provides A More Positive Dental Experience

There are several advantages to undergoing sedation with our dentist, Dr. Mark Tall, during your next procedure. Patients find that they can...

Feel Relaxed

Dental sedation puts you at ease, enabling you to undergo dental care while feeling relaxed and comfortable. This makes for a more pleasant experience, even for patients with severe dental anxiety or those who need extensive treatment.

Maintain Better Oral Health

By addressing your fear of the dentist, sedation dentistry can improve your oral health and your appearance. Sedation can help you feel comfortable undergoing routine and restorative dental care, allowing you to achieve and maintain a healthy and beautiful smile.

Recover Quickly

Because our Idaho Falls dental office uses a mild form of sedation, the aftereffects are very minimal. Nitrous oxide has a quick onset and quickly dissipates from the body, meaning you can usually drive yourself home after your procedure without worrying about feeling woozy or disoriented.

You Are Not Alone You Can Overcome Dental Anxiety

We know that for some people, even the most basic dentistry can be a cause of stress and anxiety. Unfortunately, these feelings can cause patients to neglect their oral health, resulting in dental problems and the need for more extensive dental work...

Sedation Is Not Right for Everyone

Be thorough when you discuss your medical history and any medication you are currently taking to ensure your safety. Dr. Tall might not approve you for sedation if you are:

  • Pregnant
  • Allergic to certain medications
  • Diagnosed with a heart condition
  • In poor overall health

A Closer Look  At Treatment

There are many kinds of medications used in sedation dentistry. At Sandcreek Dental, serving Ammon, Blackfoot, Rexburg, Shelley, and nearby areas...

we use a form of sedation known as nitrous oxide, commonly referred to as laughing gas. Here is what you can expect during treatment at our Idaho Falls, ID, dental practice...

Nitrous oxide has a quick onset and quickly dissipates from the body, meaning you shouldn't feel groggy afterward.

We will evaluate your oral health, examine your teeth, and discuss any concerns you have. The dentist will explain the necessary procedures and go over your sedation options to meet your comfort level.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide is administered through a breathing tube and mask, allowing you to inhale the odorless gas. The dentist controls the flow of the laughing gas and monitors your comfort throughout the duration of your dental treatment.

Local Anesthetic

If needed, the dentist may also administer a local anesthetic to numb the treatment area. You might feel some slight pressure but should not feel any pain from the procedure.

After Dental Treatment

Once the dentist finishes your dental treatment, we remove the mask. Your teeth might feel numb for some time but the effects of the laughing gas will subside within minutes. Nitrous oxide is one of the only sedatives where you should be able to drive yourself home after the procedure.

The dentist can be an intimidating place. I must say everyone at Sandcreek Dental was amazing. From when I walked in, the ladies up front make you feel right at home, from the cleaning and the Dr. Working on me, all were professional and I will continue to go back for all my dental work. Thanks again Sandcreek Dental.

We Use a Mild Form of Sedation

While there is always some risk associated with anesthesia, there is a particularly low chance of complications associated with nitrous oxide.

Side Effects Are Not Serious

The majority of patients will not experience any side effects. On a rare occasion, a patient may experience nausea as a result of sedation dentistry.
