What is a Root Canal?

It is a popular myth that a root canal is painful. In truth, the infection of dental pulp is what causes the pain associated with a root canal. Our dentist has the tools necessary to perform a root canal at our Idaho Falls, ID, dental practice, saving you a trip to the endodontist.
Day of Your Root Canal
Thanks to our in-office CEREC® system, Dr. Tall can restore your smile following a root canal with a permanent crown in a single appointment.
To ensure you experience a pain-free root canal, our dentist will use a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort during your treatment.
Once our dentist has ensured you are sufficiently numb to begin root canal treatment, he will create an opening in the tooth.
Dr. Tall will then remove the infected inner tissues including the pulp and nerve structures.
After disinfecting the tooth, Dr. Tall will fill the inside of the tooth with a rubber-like substitute material called gutta-percha to preserve the entire structure of the tooth.
The hole that was created to access the pulp is then filled and the tooth is covered with a dental crown which will provide strength and protection following treatment.
You leave our office with a fully restored smile and relief from your dental pain in a single appointment.
