Root Canal

Trauma or decay can cause a painful infection that if left untreated can lead to dental issues that can impact both your smile and health.

A root canal can remove the infected dental tissue, preserving your natural tooth structure and eliminating pain while saving your smile.

Sandcreek Dental in Idaho Falls offers root canal treatment to the surrounding communities of Ammon, Blackfoot, Rexburg, and Shelley, ID...

Painless Root Canal Treatment

Advanced root canal treatment is available at our dentistry practice in Idaho Falls, ID. If you need a root canal, our dentist, Dr. Tall can save the external structure of your tooth without the need for seeing an endodontist. Dr. Tall has extensive experience with root canals and will make every effort to ensure your treatment is pain-free.

Comfortable Techniques

In all reality, a root canal is no more uncomfortable than getting a cavity filled thanks to local anesthesia and the latest techniques available in modern dentistry.

Save Your Teeth

Treating infected dental tissue and restoring an affected tooth with a crown allows you to enjoy regular oral function while keeping your natural smile intact.

Avoid Costly Treatment

Root canal treatment can save you money. By avoiding tooth loss, you can avoid expensive dental treatments such as an implant-supported crown in the future.

What is a Root Canal?

The inside of a tooth contains pulp, which is the soft tissue made up of nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. Extensive dental trauma or decay can cause the pulp to become infected. A root canal can eliminate pain by removing the infection within the pulp. This can prevent the need for tooth extraction. While a gap in your smile can be repaired with a bridge or implant-supported crown at our Idaho Falls, ID, dental office, nothing compares to the function and feel of a natural tooth.

The Root Canal Procedure

It is a popular myth that a root canal is painful. In truth, the infection of dental pulp is what causes the pain associated with a root canal. Our dentist has the tools necessary to perform a root canal at our Idaho Falls, ID, dental practice, saving you a trip to the endodontist.
Thanks to our in-office CEREC® system, Dr. Tall can restore your smile following a root canal with a permanent crown in a single appointment.

Day of Your Root Canal

Thanks to our in-office CEREC® system, Dr. Tall can restore your smile following a root canal with a permanent crown in a single appointment.
To ensure you experience a pain-free root canal, our dentist will use a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort during your treatment.
Once our dentist has ensured you are sufficiently numb to begin root canal treatment, he will create an opening in the tooth.
Dr. Tall will then remove the infected inner tissues including the pulp and nerve structures.
After disinfecting the tooth, Dr. Tall will fill the inside of the tooth with a rubber-like substitute material called gutta-percha to preserve the entire structure of the tooth.
The hole that was created to access the pulp is then filled and the tooth is covered with a dental crown which will provide strength and protection following treatment.
You leave our office with a fully restored smile and relief from your dental pain in a single appointment.
